We proudly celebrated a major milestone for Abdullahi, one of our inspirational young clients here at Wagner Therapies. Nearly 19 years old and a four-limb amputee, Abdullahi has never let challenges define him. His determination, courage, and adventurous spirit shine in everything he does — and his recent indoor skydiving experience at iFly is a perfect example.
Abdullahi first joined our practice in the summer of 2022 and has worked closely with his therapist, Janet, and the rest of his MDT, to push boundaries, build independence, and pursue big dreams. This iFly adventure marks an exciting step toward even bigger goals: skydiving, parachute jumping, or paragliding in the future.
His determination and confidence in the wind tunnel reminded us all that adventure is for everyone. Abdullahi hopes that by sharing his story, he can encourage others living with disabilities to chase their own dreams without hesitation.
We are incredibly proud of his bravery and thrilled to be part of his journey. Here’s to many more adventures ahead, Abdullahi — the sky is truly the limit!
Abdullahi says:
“ It was more intense than I thought it would be! And Yes, I’m definitely going to do it again and take my brothers with me next time. Being a lower limb amputee, I needed to wear special knee sleeves to make sure my prosthetics didn’t come off during the flight. With help from my OT, and wider MDT, I was fitted with knee sleeves and we planned and prepared for the experience. On the day, I booked in, had a briefing from the instructor, picked a suit and then joined a group of fellow flyers. I “flew” for 2 x 1 minute flights, which seemed much longer. The staff were friendly and everything went smoothly.
So what’s next? I plan to build my confidence by going 2-3 more times, then trying a paraglider off a mountain, possibly abroad. Skydiving is my long-term goal.”
